Court orders ossification test of a girl

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has ordered an ossification test of a girl here to determine whether she was a minor or major at the time of her marriage in defiance of his father’s wish last month.

Justice S.L. Bhayana of the Court ordered the test when he found a palpable discrepancy in her claim of being 24 four years.

The marriage records of her father said that his wedding was solemnised in March 1989, while his daughter claimed that she was born in March 1988, the Court order said.

Mr. Justice Bhayana also directed the Sangam Vihar police in South Delhi to submit to it the school leaving certificate of the girl.

The girl and her husband have approached the Court for protection against Haji Munna, father of the girl, Seema, apprehending their harassment by him.

Mr. Justice Bhayana directed the police to have the ossification test of the girl done on August 18 and submit a report to the Court by August 20.
