TDP cannot return to power: Raghuveera

‘People are not prepared to believe the spree of promises being made by its president N. Chandrababu Naidu’

HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy has described the claims of Telugu Desam Party on coming back to power in the State as “big joke” and said retaining its status as the main opposition party would be a major achievement for the TDP.

In a statement, the Minister wondered as to how the TDP leaders were “dreaming” of returning to power when the people were not prepared to believe the spree of promises being giving by its president N. Chandrababu Naidu. “How will the people believe the promise of giving 12-hour free power when the TDP is known for its opposition to free power to farmers?” he asked.

Recalling that the TDP Government “collected” 15 per cent interest on farm loans, he said the party that extended crucial support for the survival of the NDA Government never thought about loan waiver.

The Congress Government was putting the agriculture and other sectors that plunged into crisis during the nine years of the previous regime back on track.
