UDF blockade paralyses Secretariat functioning

Thiruvananthapuram: The Secretariat blockade of the United Democratic Front paralysed the functioning of the Secretariat on Saturday.

The Opposition front was protesting against the Kerala government’s alleged failure to tackle the rise in price and refusal to withdraw the controversial Class VII social science textbook and the increase in bus fares. The blockade was peaceful, except for the alleged assault of a television reporter by the protesters. Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan, P.C. Vishnunath, Joseph M. Puthussery and K.C. Venugopal, MLAs, were arrested for blocking the road and let off later.
