Introduce new train services, say traders

Special Correspondent

KUMBAKONAM: The Federation of All Traders Associations of Kumbakonam has urged the Railways to lay a new railway track from Kumbakonam linking Jayamkondam and Vriddachalam.

A delegation led by its president A. S. A. M. Adiyan Chettiyar and secretary V. Satyanarayana met the Divisional Railway Manager S. Subramhanyan during his visit to Kumbakonam on Thursday.

It also pleaded for a train service linking Kasi-Kumbakonam and Rameswaram. Other demands included additional service of Mayiladuturai-Tirunelveli train during nights. New train service should be introduced from Mayiladuturai via Kumbakonam, Tiruchi, Vriddachalam, Athur and Salem. New train service should also be introduced in the Mayiladuturai-Shencottah section, and from Kumbakonam to Chennai via Tiruchi.
