Jayalalithaa releases aid for freedom fighter

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Friday released Rs.1 lakh assistance to 86 year-old freedom fighter Subramani of Ariyalur district.

In a statement here, she alleged that the State government had ignored Mr. Subramani’s request for pension though the Supreme Court had directed the Home Secretary to consider his application. He was battling for life. “During my regime applications of the freedom fighters were favourably considered and pensions were released. I condemn the DMK government, which failed to give pension to a freedom fighter,” she said. — Special Correspondent
