Advani lauds Modi

NEW DELHI: Congratulating the Modi government on “busting” the terrorist network responsible for the Ahmedabad blasts, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani on Saturday criticised the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre for its “lack of clarity.”

“This success shows what a government determined to deal firmly with the menace of terrorism can achieve... it stands in sharp contrast to the utter lack of clarity and willpower of the UPA government,” Mr. Advani said in a statement here.

The Gujarat government and the State police in particular came in for praise for “the important breakthrough.”

Mr. Advani spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on phone to congratulate him. “I take this opportunity to once again demand that the UPA government recommend immediate Presidential assent for the Gujarat Control of Organised Crime Act which has been pending with the Centre since June 2004,” he said. — PTI
