Probe sought into student’s death
CHENNAI: CPI (M) state secretary N. Varadarajan on Saturday demanded a CB-CID inquiry into the death of Saranya, a student of Indira Gandhi College, Tiruchi, whose body was found hanging in the hostel room on August 6.
In a statement here Mr. Varadarajan said though the college management had termed the death a suicide, her father had ruled out such a possibility.
“He says there are nail marks in her body and the dress has been torn. The contradictory statements of the college management and statements made by other students have raised doubts about the death. The Chief Minister should order an inquiry by the CB-CID,” he said. — Special Correspondent
