CHENNAI: With the Superior Court of New Jersey dismissing the $ 100 million damages suit for defamation filed by the Indian National Overseas Congress against Satyanarayana Dosapati, and his wife Sunanda Thali, Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has demanded that the government of India appoint a Commission of inquiry to investigate all charges made against Sonia Gandhi. The Overseas Congress had charged that by publishing a paid full page advertisement making allegations against Ms.Sonia Gandhi, in the New York Times on October 2, 2007, the defendants had defamed her, he explained. On August 15th, the Judge Ms. Patrica Del Bueno ruled that the Overseas Congress lacked the basis, legitimacy and locus standi to pursue the matter any further, and summarily dismissed the case, Dr.Swamy said.
