Atwal tied 17th

Rochester: Arjun Atwal rode on a flawless front-nine — studded with three birdies, to card a two-under 68 and rise to the tied 17th spot after the second round of Nationwide Tour’s Xerox Classic here.

The Orlando-based golfer has a total of three-under 137 after two rounds at the Irondequoit Country Club.

At the top, Zimbabwean Brendon de Jonge sizzled with a 64 in the second round to take the sole lead with a total of nine-under 131. Overnight leader American Bob May (69) was at the second spot.

Jeev misses cut

An improved card of one-under 69 in the second round could not lift Jeev Milkha Singh’s fortunes as he missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship at Greensboro.

Jeev missed the cut by five strokes and signed off with a total of two-over 142 at the $5.1 million event. Swede Carl Pettersson took the lead. — PTI
