Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The Janapaksham people’s movement for the Vizhinjam project has urged the government to expedite the procedural formalities for the construction of mother port.

The general body of the NGO which met here on Friday said the project would spur Kerala’s industrial and economic development.

It welcomed the decision to identify land for the rehabilitation of 198 families that will have to be displaced for the project. “The problems regarding displacement of families for the Vallarpadam terminal should serve as a reminder to the government,” speakers at the meet said.
