New Delhi: Three children, representing thousands of kids who participated in a campaign for climate change across the country, on Saturday tied rakhis to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and sought his help to protect the environment.

The campaign was launched jointly by city NGO Navdanya and Humburg-based World Future Council in February this year to provide a platform for young people to express their concern about climate change, an official of the campaign said.

Navdanya official Manu Shankar said the ‘KidsCall’ campaign culminated on Saturday with handing over of a letter to the Prime Minister that comprised six points which children’s said needed the Government’s attention.

“We wish to ensure a massive increase of renewable energy in India. This should be combined with regular and transparent monitoring about the implementation,” the letter said.

The campaign was launched in New Delhi on February 2 and in the following five months it was taken to over 20 cities across 10 states, Shankar said. –PTI
