BANGALORE: The Varamahalakshmi festival proved costly for a businessman from whose house jewellery worth around Rs. 7 lakh was stolen on Friday night. According to the police, members of Rajagopal Naidu’s family had gone to bed leaving the jewellery in the puja room. The culprits entered the house by cutting the window grills and made away with the jewellery. Body foundA 22-year-old youth, whom police say was a habitual offender, was found murdered in K.G. Halli Police limits on Friday night. The body, which bore stab injuries, was found on property belonging to the Vyalikaval House Building Cooperative Society. The police identified him as Khaleel Pasha, a resident of Mestri Palya, Sriramapura. MurderedA gambler was murdered allegedly by his associates in Magadi Road Police limits on Friday night. Fatally hitRaju alias Rajendra Kumar (42) was fatally hit on the head with a liquor bottle at his home in Manjunathanagar.
The Magadi Road police have registered a case of murder. SuicideA 26-year-old woman ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house at M.S.R. Nagar in Sanjaynagar police station limits on Friday. The police said that she had entered into a suicide pact with her husband Nagaraju (30) who was also found hanging. The neighbours informed the police. Hemavathi was declared brought dead at the hospital. Nagaraju, an autorickshaw driver, was in a critical state, the police said. The couple got married three months ago. The reason for them taking the extreme step is not known. The Sanjaynagar Police are investigating. Dies in hospitalAn engineering student, who had reportedly consumed rat poison on Thursday, died in hospital on Friday. N. Dhruthi (21), daughter of Narayan, a businessman and resident of Muneshwara Block, had failed her semester examination. The Girinagar police are investigating. Killed in accidentLakshmamma (36), a resident of Nandagudi, died in an accident on Bellary Road in front of GKVK in Yelahanka Police limits early on Saturday. The driver of the car, who hit the woman while she was crossing the road, sped away. The Yelahanka police have registered a case.
