Vishaal and Nayantara in ‘Salute’ Film: Salute Cast: Vishal, Nayantara Director: Rajashekar Salute is supposed to be a bilingual, a direct Telugu film, but it doesn’t entirely succeed in emanating the Telugu flavour. Also there are quite a few Tamil actors in the film. It is essentially a cop story, about an ACP Satyam (Vishal) who believes that the police resort to encounters because they lack the will to find out the background of the criminals and those people who instigate them to commit crime. He is entrusted with the job of nabbing those who killed th e Ministers, but eventually he is shocked to know that it is Inspector Pratap Rudra (Upendra) who was behind it. Why Pratap Rudra takes this mission on himself to cleanse the system, why he reveals the unholy nexus between the law and politicians and whether Satyam joins hands with Pratap Rudra or not is narrated in the second half of the story. The film technically makes an impact but falters on the weak script. Vishal has tonsured his head and has clearly worked on his body, but after watching so many of his dubbed films, his dialogues here don’t seem to be effective. Nayantara plays the role of a television journalist but it hardly suits her. Out of all the characters, it is Upendra who stands out. The producer has spent lavishly on the film and ‘Salute’ scores on the technical area. Sudha Mayuri makes an appearance on the big screen after a long time and Kota Srinivas Rao plays his usual clichéd role. Ali is seen hanging around with Nayantara and Brahmanandam. . Finally, this film is only for those who like police stories and action films.
