PUDUCHERRY: The Confederation of Pondicherry State Government Employees’ Associations has said that government employees, teachers, employees of municipality commune panchayats and Central government staff would take part in a general strike on August 20. The strike was being organised in protest against issues including the Central government’s independent report on the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, without consulting labour unions. The strike would also be held at Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam, said a press release.
