BANGALORE: The Department of Biotechnology and Genetics, Seshadipuram First Grade College, Yelahanka New Town, in association with the Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science Technology, Government of Karnataka, has organised a three-day national symposium on “Nano Biotechnology” from August 25. Wooday P. Krishna, honorary secretary of Seshadripuram Education Trust, told presspersons here on Saturday that though Bangalore had come to be known as the Information Technology and Biotechnology capital, very few people were joining courses in these subjects. More students to opt for bio-technology and pursue research, he said. Mr. Krishna said that scientist C.N.R. Rao would inaugurate the workshop and Ashok Kumar C. Manoli, Principal Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science and Technology will participate. The seminar will be held at the College campus at Yelahanka New Town. Mr. Krishna said the college was also holding “Mirage National Job – Fair 2008” on August 29, 30 and 31, and a two-day workshop on the topic “Stem Cells and its Applications and Apoptosis” on September 1 and 2 on the college campus.
