Election stunt: Sangharsh Vahini

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Jan Sangharsh Vahini, which is involved in a struggle for the development and rights of unauthorised colonies here, has said the government’s announcement to give provisional certificates to unauthorised colonies was an election stunt.

Its coordinator Bhupendra Rawat said the State government and the Delhi Development Authority have already made preparations to demolish the majority of the 1,639 colonies.

He said it was eyeing the votes of these colonies. “The government does not even have basic information about the ground reality of the colonies it plans to regularise.”
