THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A new marketing system involving the six European Union-aided markets in the State will be worked out by November to ensure optimum price for agriculture produce, Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran has said. Laying the foundation for the Karshaka Bhavan here on Sunday evening, Mr. Ratnakaran said the markets would be made the apex bodies for marketing the produce. The government would finalise the proposal soon. The Karshaka Bhavan with 50 rooms would provide accommodation to farmers at affordable rates. It would also create a sense of belonging among them, the Minister said. The bhavan would house a museum and library which would give an insight into the changes in the agriculture sector over the years, he said. Mayor C. Jayan Babu, in his presidential address, urged agriculture officers to take the lead in increasing productivity.
