TNGEA’s appeal to government

CHENNAI: While welcoming the announcement of a special timescale pay for anganwadi workers, noon meal cooks and assistants, the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association (TNGEA) urged the government to give time-scale pay and half of the last drawn salary as pension to noon-meal and anganwadi workers who have put in more than 25 years service, on a par with other government employees.

The association also said unlike the Centre which announced the Six Pay Commission recommendations without consulting the employees unions, the Tamil Nadu government should hold talks with the unions before taking a decision with regard to change in the pay of the State government employees. — Special Correspondent
