Police book case against councillor
ADILABAD: The Adilabad rural police have registered a case against Annapurna, CPI(M) councillor from ward 32, for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman that resulted in abortion.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday in Ranadivenagar when revenue officials were busy disbursing relief to victims of recent floods. Sirikonda Lalitha, who was 7 months pregnant, had questioned Annapurna about the lower scale of compensation that she received. Irked over this, the councillor is alleged to have kicked her in the stomach that caused the abortion.
