Leaders working to strengthen the party: Suresh Pachouri

A rally being planned at Chhindwara on August 22

The party manifesto would be announced soon

BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President, Suresh Pachouri on Sunday shared his optimism saying that the State Congress unit was absolutely united and geared to trounce the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the coming State Assembly elections.

Mr. Pachouri was speaking to a group of journalists at a luncheon hosted by him in the State capital to mark the Independence Day.

Mr. Pachouri, who is recovering from an accident that left him with few broken ribs, said that all State Congress leaders were working to strengthen the party and carry forward the Congress campaign for the crucial Assembly elections later this year.

Mr. Pachouri said that the Congress party had sounded the election bugle at party president Sonia Gandhi’s rally at Ujjain on June 20. This rally was attended by all prominent State Congress leaders.

Another rally is now being planned at Chhindwara on August 22. Union Ministers Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh are likely to participate in this rally.

Strategy

Mr. Pachouri said that it was not that the Congress was slow in its campaign.

In fact, he said, the election strategy is in place and the idea is not to make it public at this stage. “Let it unfold gradually as we move ahead in the election mode.”

The designs for posters, slogans and the charge-sheet against the ruling BJP are all ready, Mr. Pachouri added. The party manifesto would be announced soon.
