dated August 18, 1958: Kashmir issue

The Security Council “may take up” the Kashmir issue for discussion in the third week of September next, the Karachi English daily Dawn reported on August 17. The paper recalled that after the United Nations representative Dr. Graham had submitted his report to the Council early this year Pakistan had planned to raise the issue in the Council in June. But after consultations with the U.S and the U.K. it was decided to take the matter to the Council in September. “It is, however, by no means yet certain, that the Council will, in fact, be seized of the matter in September”, the paper added.
