D. Hanumantha Rao, Vijaynagar colony Dear Mr. Rao, It is true that we could be better off if there were less of noise. The sad part is that educated citizens are also violating all rules. If you notice nuisance by big speakers, please call ‘100’ and lodge your complaint. Vehicle owners can be booked for harsh and shrill multi-toned horns, under Rule 119 of the CMV Rules, 1989. Sir, Are helmet and seat belt rules applicable for police? Can I collect penalty from such erring policemen and send it you every month? Jacob Dear Mr. Jacob, Rules are applicable to police as much as to others. Erring policemen are penalised. There is no exemption for them from wearing helmet or using seat belts. I am sorry, I cannot outsource the job of collecting fine. While you are entitled to your opinion, it is not safe to generalise. Sir, I received an e-challan on June 7, 2008 08 for driver not wearing seat belt which was committed according to you on December 2, 2007. It would be convenient if the challan is sent soon after noticing the violati on.
Bhushan Dear Mr. Bhushan, You will be glad to know that our e-Challan Centre has been working tirelessly and we have been able to reduce the time gap between recording of violation and printing of challan to about three months. We will shortly wipe out the backlog and print the challans on a day–to-day basis. Thanks for paying the challan. We are dealing with traffic offenders on the wrong side very sternly and sending them to court. Their full particulars are also being recorded to get them disqualified for holding driving licence. Sir, Closure of Durgam Cheruvu road is creating traffic snarls on the entire Madhapur-Cyber Tower stretch. It is observed that auto-rickshaws occupy prime space on left side of road at almost all junctions. What can be done to check this?S. Sudhir Kumar, Somajiguda Dear Mr. Sudhir, Madhapur falls in Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. As regards the Durgam Cheruvu Road , we will take it up with the GHMC. We are taking action against autos parked on the road or on turnings. I agree, it is the educated lot which has to set the example by following traffic rules, whether there is a cop at the signal or not. Please stand at any of the junctions and watch. The situation is just the contrary. But, enlightened citizens are now working with us to make certain places violation free. Sir The entire stretch of the Indira Park - RTC X roads is also a complete mess. Despite multiple signals people hardly follow the rules there.
Pavani Jandhyala, Vidyanagar Dear Ms. Pavani, You have put it correctly – “People hardly follow traffic rules”. It is not possible to man all junctions and turnings round the clock. But, certainly the cops have to be tough, while on duty. We are arranging surprise checks by flying squads and also sending persons driving on the wrong side to the court. Those jumping signals are being fined on the spot or being dealt through e-challans.
