A swankier version of ‘tent-house cinema’

Parvathamma Rajkumar inaugurates Innovative Talkies

Puneet Rajkumar launches Innovative VIP Club

Innovative Film City expects six million visitors every year

Bangalore: An attempt to recreate a bygone era in film entertainment of “talkies”, where people sat with their legs folded to hear the movie reel being jerked to life, has led to the launch of Innovative Talkies.

Innovative Film City announced a slightly swankier version of the “tent-house cinema”. It was inaugurated by Parvathamma Rajkumar along with members from the film industry. Trying to keep true to the theme, the first class seating of the theatre is a set of benches in the front and the floor is what was known as the “Gandhi class” with no alteration. With lights decorated and fitted in pots just like yesteryear, Innovative Talkies hopes that audiences unwind as they rewind.

“This concept prevailed before our theatres and multiplex took shape, when Digital/Dolby was unknown. We have the same mike which gives the sound effect. There is also a “bhajji-bonda” stall outside the talkies to complete the experience,” says Saravana Prasad, Chairman and Managing Director, Innovative Studios Private Limited. Actor Puneet Rajkumar launched the Innovative VIP Club on the occasion. It is an elite club allowing members access to all facilities, discounts and merchandise.

Other attractions

The other attractions at Innovative Film City include imitations of “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum”, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, and their own Funplex, Aqua Kingdom, Dinosaur World, and Cartoon City, among others.

Built on a 50-acre area on Bangalore-Mysore highway near Bidadi, Innovative Film City once completed expects to have six million visitors every year.
