DANCE DRAMA: A Nalacharitam Kathakali performance in Chennai. KOCHI: This is one big event that Kathakali fans cannot miss. The full version of Nalacharitam will be presented over two days by leading actors of the art form. Parakkadavu EMS Memorial Library is organising the show, Nalacharitosavam. Renowned Koodiyattom artiste Moozhikulam Kochu Kuttan Chakyar will inaugurate the two-day Kathakali fete at Moozhikulam St. Mary’s School grounds on September 12. The meeting will also honour the Koodiyattom master on the occasion. This will be followed by Nalacharitam Onnam Divasam at 6.30 p.m., with Kalamandalam Gopi as Nalan, Kalamandalam Arun Warrier as Naradan, Kalamandalam Balasubramaniam as Hamsam, Kalamandalam Shanmughan as Damayanti and Kalamandalam Sucheendranathan and Gayatri Menon as Damayanti’s companions. The night will also witness staging of Nalacharitam Randam Divasam, with Sadanam Krishnan Kutty as Nalan, Margi Vijayakumar as Damayanti, Nelliyode Vasudevan Namboodiri as Kali, Kalamandalam Neeraj as Dwaparan, Arun Warrier as Indran, Kalamandalam Krishnakumar as Pushkaran and Kalamandalam Balasubramaniam as Kattalan. The next evening’s show will begin with Nalacharitam Moonnam Divasam, with Kalamandalam Krishnakumar as Nalan, Kalamandalam Balasubramaniam as Bahukan, Kalamandalam Neeraj as Karkodakan, Kalamandalam Vijayan as Damayanti, Kalamandalam Kesavan Namboodiri as Sudevan, Kalamandalam Manoj as Rutuparnan, Arun Ramesh as Jeevalan, Cheenesh Balan as Varshaneyan and Nelliyode Vasudevan Namboodiri as Kali. This will be followed by Nalacharitam Nalam Divsam, having Kalamandalam Gopi’s Nalan and Margi Vijayakumar’s Damayanti and Kalamandalam Shanmugham as Kesini. The library is organising the Nalacharitosavam with the goal of building up a book bank. The tickets for the show are available at Vaidyaratnam Oushadasala, Moozhikulam; A-One Bakers, Annamanada Junction; One-India, Kurumassery; and Aiswarya Medicals, Athani. As a run-up to the mega show, the Keli will be held on August 15. Poet N.K. Desam will inaugurate the Keli. Lecture on Nalacharitam by V. Kaladharan, public relations officer of Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University of Arts and Culture, quiz and recital competition on Nalacharitam for students will precede the Keli.
