Union picks holes in pay panel report

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Central Government Employees Coordination Committee, Visakhapatnam, has expressed unhappiness over the recommendations of the VI Central Pay Commission, pointing out that the proposed increase of salaries would not change the standard of life of employees because of the skyrocketing of prices of all commodities and inflation which had reached an all-time high of 12.44 per cent.

The parameters which were taken into account for calculating the minimum wage were unjustified. The minimum wage should be Rs.10,000, convenor of the committee S.M. Moulali said.

For achieving these demands, the committee decided to participate in the proposed strike on August 20.
