ART centre in general hospital opened

KOCHI: With the opening of an anti-retroviral treatment (ART) link centre at the District General Hospital, all those HIV/AIDS affected on ART can get their medicines from here.

All those taking ART in the district are registered under the ART centre at Thrissur Medical College and had to go there every month to get their medicines. A link-centre would provide medicines here itself. The ART link centre was inaugurated on Sunday by Ludy Luiz, former MLA. Anil Joseph, the secretary of Council of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Kerala, received the packet of medicines on behalf of the patients. D. Radhakrishnan, Superintendent of the General Hosptial, said that three doctors at the hospital will be taking up duties at the link centre too. A counsellor and a pharmacist have already been appointed.
