Varsity faux pas costs BHMS student her course

HYDERABAD: The roots of education are bitter but the fruit is sweet. This is realised the hard way by a student, Mahamooda Banu, whose attempts to pursue the BHMS course have been thwarted by a callous administration. A faux pas by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences has prevented her from joining the undergraduate course. Banu attended the counselling held by Dr. NTR University for admission into BHMS course under BC-E category (Muslim quota) on December 3, 2007 and was given admission into JSPS Government Homeopathic Medical College, Ramanthapur. No letter to that effect was given on the plea that the BC-E reservation issue was in the High Court. A frustrated Shabbir Ali, Banu’s father has now filed a writ petition seeking a provisional admission and permission to attend the classes ‘at least from today’. Before that he obtained a counselling attendance certificate from the Dr. NTR University, which shows Shabbir Ali as having attended the BHMS counselling instead of his daughter. Seems there is no end to his trauma.
