HYDERABAD: For the first time in the State, seats were allotted based on the choices given through Internet in the ongoing ICET-2008 counselling being held for admissions to MBA and MCA colleges. All the candidates who gave options through web based counselling got their confirmation through emails. The APSCHE chairman, K.C. Reddy inaugurated the facility at the Osmania University on Sunday. He said candidates will receive their allotment through email and they can directly join the college using the same. Prof. Reddy said 18,411 candidates who attended the first phase of counselling chose to use the web option as their second option while additional 4,610 candidates also chose the same method. If new colleges are permitted after these admissions were made candidates can again seek admission into new colleges. CounsellingFinal phase of counselling would begin on August 18 and will continue till August 24. He rejected the apprehensions that reserved candidates would not get their due and said the software was prepared taking into account all the permutations and combinations. Prof. Reddy said efforts were on to introduce web based counselling for the B. Ed admissions to be made for this academic year. No complaintThe ICET-2008 Convenor, D.N. Reddy said the options submitted by the candidates were verified by sending an email to all the candidates. They were asked to check for discrepancies in their options but there was not even a single complaint received. The final allotment was made after that, he said adding that there won’t be any complaints on the allotments. This year 28,345 MCA seats were available for the 75 per cent Convenor quota while 20,132 seats were available for the MBA stream. So far, 630 colleges have been included for counselling. The APSCHE Secretary, M.D. Christopher, OU Vice-Chancellor T. Tirupati Rao and senior professor, P. Subba Reddy were among present.
