KADAPA: Collector M.T. Krishna Babu on Monday directed issue of notification to fill all vacant fair price shop dealerships by August end. Addressing the district-level food advisory committee meeting here, he directed revenue divisional officers to follow rule of reservations in FP shop dealer appointments, when CPI district secretary G. Obulesu, CPI (M) State Committee member N. Ravisankar Reddy and TDP leader G. Lakshmi Reddy alleged that reservation rule was not being properly followed. When members expressed concern at rampant scarcity of diesel, Indian Oil Corporation’s oil coordinator Jayanth explained that bulk consumption had increased by 60 per cent this year compared to about 15 to 20 per cent in the corresponding period last year. Eighteen thousand kilolitres were being supplied now, as against 13,000 kilolitres last year, he said. The Collector wanted important petrol pumps identified and adequate supply of diesel to them. He directed steps to ensure diesel supply to vehicle owners basing on RC books. Mr. Krishna Babu directed barring of loose sales of diesel and booking of cases against erring pump owners. He directed RDOs to initiate steps to curb steep price rise of essential commodities and ensure proper kerosene supply. He instructed RDOs to conduct mandal-level food committee meetings. Joint Collector M. Girijasankar said Rs. 2-a-kg rice would be supplied from the first day of the month. The district required 64o kilolitres of palmolein and 640 tonnes of red gram and only 200 kilolitres of palmolein and 330 tonnes of red gram stocks were lifted so far. Out of 86,000 pink ration cards, 26, 363 card-holders applied for conversion into white cards and eligible ones would be permitted, he said. Mr. Obulesu said rice coupons were given for six months. He complained of three kg rice supply per card in Yerraguntla and the Collector urged the RDO to inquire. Zilla Parishad CEO Venkataswamy, Kadapa RDO Ranjit Basha, Jammalamadugu RDO L. Prabhakar Reddy and Rajampet RDO Venkataramana Reddy and other officials participated.
