Union opposes move on PF deposits

Staff Reporter

PALAKKAD: The annual general body meeting of the Instrumentation Workers Union held here on Monday urged the Central government, in a resolution, to desist from handing over provident fund (PF) deposits to private companies like Reliance and ICICI.

The meeting also decided to support the national strike on August 20 called by the Left parties in protest against the alleged anti-people and anti-worker policies of the Central government.

It also urged Instrumentation Limited, a Central public sector company at Kanjikode, to give the temporary staff in production, gardening and security salary on par with its permanent staff. The meet was inaugurated by N.N. Krishnadas, MP. It was presided over by union president M. Chandran, MLA, and addressed by its vice-president P. Sadanandan and general secretary C.C. Radhakrishnan.
