VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Tribal Welfare D.S. Redya Nayak has asked officials to speed up implementation of the Recognition of Forest Rights Act and also create awareness among tribals about the Act. PattasReviewing implementation of the Act, medical and health facilities in the Agency and implementation of Remote and Interior Areas Development programme with the Project Officer of ITDA, RDOs and other officials at the ITDA Office in Parvathipuram on Monday, Mr. Nayak said as the government had decided to issue pattas under the Forest Rights Act to tribals by October 30 this year, the officials concerned must create awareness among tribals through beating of drums and other modes of publicity in their areas, including door-to-door campaign and also through elected representatives. Road linksOn RIAD, he asked them to provide road links to all remote villages after holding consultations with contractors by March next. With regard to medical and health facilities, he asked the DMHO to monitor performance of staff working on deputation in the Agency region and also instructed medical officers attached to PHCs to stay at the place of posting. Project Officer of Integrated Tribal Development Agency G. Krishna, Revenue Divisional Officers S. Delhi Rao and Prasanthi, member of the SC/ST Commission Gummadi Sandhya Rani and others were present, according to DPRO release here.
