DEHRA DUN: The Uttarakhand Capital Site Selection Commission headed by Justice Virendra Dixit has submitted its report to the Chief Minister. The report will be studied by the Government and necessary action taken, a Government spokesman said here on Monday. Too many extensionsThe Uttarakhand High Court had recently directed the Government to seek the final report by August 17 while hearing a PIL opposing the large number of extensions given to the Commission. Constituted by the interim BJP Governmentin 2001, the term of the Commission was extended 11 times. Except for the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal which has throughout maintained that only Gairsen was acceptable as the Capital, the BJP and Congress wanted the Capital to be located at a place that was easily accessible from New Delhi and rest of the country, had sufficient land and water for expansion and was acceptable to the people. The Commission had gone through various parameters including the carrying capacity while studying the feasibility of Gairsen, Ramnagar, IDPL near Rishikesh and Dehra Dun.
