PUDUCHERRY: The Bharatiya Janata Textile Labour Wing has urged the territorial government to revise the wages of the textile workers on a par with the wages recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission for the Central government employees. A release issued by the union said on Monday that it had been decided at a meeting of the wing’s office bearers on Sunday that the Bharatiya Labour Union, which had been functioning in the Union Territory as a separate entity from 1984, would merge with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. Through a resolution, the meeting had asked the Centre to hike the minimum wages for the unorganised sector workers to Rs.150 from Rs.79 per day, it added.
