JD(S) to be revived before Lok Sabha elections Madikeri: The president of the Kodagu Yuva Janata Dal(S), Tatu Monappa, said here on Monday that the unit in the district would work to strengthen the party from the booth level in view of the next Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to presspersons here, he praised the party leader and MLC, M.C. Nanaiah, for being instrumental in impressing the Yeddyurappa Government on the floor of the House to announce a Rs. 25-crore economic package for Kodagu district for its all-round development. Funds should be allotted to all gram panchayats to take up development works, he said. At a meeting of the wing, members condemned the State Government’s inept handling of the fertilizer crisis, the law and order situation resulting in the deaths of farmers and the “bungling” by the Home Minister on various issues recently. They reflected the state of affairs in the BJP Government in the State, Mr. Monnappa said. ResignationMr. Monnappa and other office-bearers of the Yuva Janata Dal(S) demanded that Addanda C. Cariappa, a Virajpet Taluk Panchayat member, should tender resignation to the membership on moral grounds. Mr. Cariappa had switched loyalty to the BJP of late. Mr. Cariappa was elected from Kirgoor constituency in Virajpet taluk on the Janata Dal(S) ticket. Former MLC C.S. Arun Machaiah was instrumental in the victory of Mr. Cariappa, Mr. Monnappa said and added that the latter had betrayed the hopes and aspirations of the voters in his constituency by supporting the BJP.
