PANAJI: Following the allegations of a major scam of illegal mining involving Goa’s Mining and Forest departments by the Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar on the floor of the Assembly, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Monday promised prompt inquiry and action before the end of the on-going Assembly session. The allegation was made by Mr. Parrikar during question hour on the first day of the 10-day monsoon session. Mr. Parrikar brought to the notice of the House that the gap between iron ore exported from the State and that explored annually has been increasing from the earlier 23 per cent to 28 per cent in the last two years. He said that this had resulted in a “fraud on the Exchequer” in terms of evasion of royalty.
