New office bearers elected

PUDUCHERRY: The Progressive Writers Association elected new office bearers during its 7th conference held on August 15. Seminars, rally and cultural programmes were organised on the occasion.

According to a release, J. Harikrishnan had been elected as president, while S. Anbalagan and R. Ramgopal were elected as secretary and treasurer respectively for a three-year term.

The association passed demanding among other things a welfare board for folk artists, an auditorium to conduct musical and literary programmes and uniform education for all, it added. — Staff Reporter
