HYDERABAD: The mortal remains of actor Hariprasad (52) were consigned to flames on Monday afternoon in the presence of several tinseltown personalities. His 18 year-old son Kaushik lit the pyre.

Among those present at the cremation ground in S.R. Nagar were filmmakers Dasari Narayana Rao, A.M. Ratnam and Tammareddy Bharadwaja, actors Muralimohan, Relangi Narasimha Rao, Ranganath, Giri Babu and a host of others.

Earlier in the afternoon, Hariprasad’s body was placed at the Film Chamber to enable people to pay their respects. Film actor Chiranjeevi and Hariprasad’s long-time associates Sudhakar and Narayana Rao were present at the Chamber, consoling his wife Jyoti.

Mr. Chiranjeevi recalled his association with Hariprasad, as a roommate for a year in 1987. Hariprasad is best remembered for his role in Dasari Narayana Rao’s ‘Sivaranjani’ that released in the same year.

Promises help

Mr. Chiranjeevi promised all help to the family, especially in educating his son and daughter Rachana.

In his 100 films-odd career spanning three decades, Hariprasad, together with Sudhakar and Narayana Rao, produced the hit film ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’ with Mr. Chiranjeevi in the lead, also essaying the role of a ‘sadhu’. He acted in another hit film, ‘Gangleader’.

He also produced three Kannada films.

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu condoled the actor’s death.
