Haryana to introduce new pension scheme

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Cabinet on Monday decided to introduce a new pension scheme for all the Government servants who have joined service on or after January 1, 2006.

The Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, disclosed that the new pension scheme would be implemented on the pattern of Central Government and known as the Haryana New Pension Scheme, 2008. It would have two tiers. Contribution to Tier-I is mandatory for all Government servants who have joined service on January 1, 2006 or later. Under Tier-I, a Government servant shall have to make a contribution of 10 per cent of his basic pay plus dearness pay and dearness allowance, which would be deducted from his salary bill every month by the Drawing and Disbursing Officer. A matching contribution would be made by the Govt.

The Tier-II of the new pension scheme would not be operational at present and no recoveries would be made from the salaries of the Government servants on this account. No deduction shall be made towards General Provident Fund contribution from the Government servants joining the service on or after January 1, 2006 as the GPF scheme was not applicable to them.No withdrawal of amount would be allowed from the deposits under Tier-I. Permanent Pension Account Number of the Government servants, who join the Contributory Pension Scheme would be allotted by Accountant General (Accounts and Entitlement).

The Cabinet decided to give on lease ‘shamilat’ lands of six villages of Jhajjar district and of 14 villages of Rewari district to Bharti Trust, New Delhi for setting up Satya Bharti Schools. Gram Panchayats of Sunderheti, Nogaon, Chadwana, Bambuliya, Fatehpur and Bithla in Jhajjar district had passed a resolution to lease out their lands to Bharti Trust.
