“Know your customer”

Thanks to increasing accent on promotion of tourism in the State, Madurai is gaining prominence as one of the popular tourism destinations.

Flow of foreign and domestic tourists is steadily on the rise. There is also a possibility of anti-social elements entering the city as ordinary citizens. It is probable that they may stay in lodges under pseudonyms to strike terror at an opportune moment and disturb peace and harmony.

Therefore, as a preventive measure, it will be useful to put in place in all lodging houses a “know-your-customer” mechanism, so that they can get valid proof of identity and complete details from those who seek accommodation and store them in computers.

It will enable law enforcing agencies to easily track anyone.

It is expected that the district administration will consider the matter and do the needful.

Relay the road

The road at the junction of V.P. Rathinasamy Road and Indian Overseas Bank was dug a month back to lay pipelines for drinking water project. Since then, the road is not fit for free movement of vehicles due to many pits. There are chances of accidents. We request the officials concerned to make necessary arrangements to rectify the same.

Clean the urinals

Stifling stench from free urinals at Mattuthavani bus stand makes the surrounding area rather unpleasant. The public will be delighted if the urinals are cleaned with disinfectant now and then.
