YSR denies the proposal came after Chiru’s plan to enter politics ‘Congress already providing scholarships to Kapu students’
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has dismissed the charge that the party has taken up the issue of inclusion of Kapus in BCs’ list after the talk of film star Chiranjeevi’s entry into politics came to the fore.
Recalling that former Chief Minister Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy was the first to suggest inclusion of Kapus in the BCs’ list, he says that the present government is providing scholarships to students hailing from Kapu community on a par with the BCs. The government is firm that the interests of the BC communities should not be affected by inclusion of Kapus, who are present in significant numbers and a committee has been constituted to study all aspects of the issue. In an interview to the private news channel on Monday, the Chief Minister set aside the argument that the Congress brought forth the BC reservation issue with the entry of Mr. Chiranjeevi into politics. The Congress would not take decision keeping individuals in mind and there would be no political considerations while taking decisions affecting the larger interests of the people.
