Order on pay for transport staff

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has ordered that technical supervisors and administrative supervisors at the Government Transport Corporation be given salaries equal to government employees, according to a press release.

This order will be effective from January 1, 2008, the release said.

This demand for equal salaries has been voiced for the past 20 years by the Transport officials. A total of 2,286 employees will be benefited by this order, the release said. — Staff Reporter
