New role for Amarnath

KOLKATA: Mohinder Amarnath has been appointed the consultant of the Bengal cricket team for the ensuing season. A local coach whose name will be disclosed later will assist him.

Briefing the media after the first Working Committee Meeting, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President, Jagmohan Dalmiya, said Amarnath’s tenure would be of one year. The Bengal Ranji team will play in plate division.

The CAB has also succeeded in retaining all its key players to serve the Bengal team in the coming season. Almost all of them, including Manoj Tewari, Ranadeb Bose, S.S. Paul, L.R. Shukla, Ashok Dinda, Sourasish Lahiri and Wriddhiman Saha, have given their assurances in writing.

Naresh Ojha and Debabrata Das have been named the new assistant secretaries. Russi Jeejeebhoy has been named as the TRDO of Bengal cricket. — Special Correspondent
