BANGALORE: A 45-year-old milkman died in a brawl at a milk owners’ cooperative society in Ramanagara district on Saturday, sparking tension where the public refused to let the police lift his body. According to police, Eraiah was depositing milk at the cooperative society but had not been paid for a few days. He went to the society building on Saturday evening and met Ramaiah and Hanumaiah, president and the treasurer, who accused him of adulterating his milk with water. This led to a brawl where Ramaiah and Hanumaiah allegedly hit Eraiah with milk can lids. Eraiah died on the spot. His brother has filed a complaint against Ramaiah and Hanumaiah before the Ramanagara Rural police. When the police came to the spot, they had a tough time as the crowds, who gathered, disallowed them to remove the body, insisting that the two office-bearers be arrested first. It took a while for the police to bring the situation under control. The Ramanagara rural police have registered a case of murder and are searching the accused. Dies of burnsA 22-year-old woman, allegedly set ablaze by her husband on Sunday, died of burns at Victoria Hospital on Monday. The police said Pushpa, a native of Vithalenahalli in Davangere district, married Krishnappa, a painter, six months ago. On Sunday, she had a fight with her husband over the purchase of a hairclip. Krishnappa allegedly poured kerosene and set her ablaze. Neighbours in Naganathapura 1st Cross, who came to her rescue, saw Krishnappa rushing out of the house saying he was getting an autorickshaw to take his wife to hospital. When he did not return, neighbours took Pushpa to Victoria Hospital where she died on Monday. The Parappana Agrahara police have registered a case against Krishnappa.
