BANGALORE: The energy and enthusiasm of the students was evident at “Opus Oriana”, the first inter-school festival hosted by The Oxford Senior Secondary School (CBSE), J.P. Nagar. Over 1,000 children from 16 schools participated in the two-day event inaugurated by actor Vaibhavi and film director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar. The festival began with a welcome dance and a song. Soon, the humble beginning turned into a mega event with the participating schools showing a lot of zeal, passion and competitive spirit. The school campus was transformed into a vibrant palette. A host of competitions was lined up during the event. The creativity of the participants came to the fore at events such as “Blooming Bouquets” and “Design to Wear”, while “Su-do-ku” and “Quest” posed a challenge to their cognitive skills. “Raise the Voice” saw the emergence of powerful orators. The audience cheered and screamed despite their voices going hoarse as there were prizes waiting for them. In the end, The Oxford English School bagged the overall champion trophy, while Fathima from the same school received the Best Opus Student trophy. Jyothi Kendriya Vidyalaya bagged the first prize in “Anthakshari”, while Sudarshan Vidya Mandir emerged top in “Mad Ads”, and the host school walked away with the first prize in “Waltz ’n’ Whirl”. Principal Mariamma S. Mathew said that the teachers and students of classes XI and XII had worked day and night to make the event a success. N. Ramesh Raju, Executive Director of The Oxford Group of Institutions said that he would be happy to organise more such events. Film and television artiste Yash gave away prizes to the winners. Lakshminarayan Hegde, Manager (Production and Technical), Zee Kannada, was present.
