Fields flooded as canal breaches

Udumalpet: A breach in the main canal of the Amaravathy ayacut irrigation scheme led to flooding of agriculture land in Kallapuram area of Udumalpet.
It is learnt that the breach flooded sub canals and entered agriculture fields. Following breach, water supply from the Amaravathy reservoir has been suspended. Works to plug the breach will begin soon, authorities said.
Investigation on
Three persons were found moving on a moped in NGGO Colony and Teachers Colony on Monday night. The security person in the area immediately alerted residents. When they gathered in strength, these persons took to heels.
A silver Vinayaka idol, a camera, hammer, cutting pliers, wires were found from the moped. The Periyanaickenpalayam police are investigating.
