BHUBANESWAR: In a rare show of solidarity, State’s theatre fraternity managed to generate the resources required to airlift the ailing eminent theatre personality Dolagobinda Rath to Bengaluru on Monday for an emergency surgery. Rath, a proud product of the National School of Drama and a revered name in Oriya theatre circle, developed cardiac complications and was hospitalised here since August 3. Doctors had advised for an early surgery to save his life but his family found it almost impossible to arrange the funds required for the emergency medical care. “Orissa Natya Sangha would set up a welfare fund soon to meet such emergent needs of the theatre artistes,” said Dhira Mallick of Satabdira Kalakar and Haren Sahoo of Pancham Veda. The Sangha has appealed to the Chief Minister for sanction of financial support from the CM’s Relief Fund for Rath’s treatment.
