THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader K. Karunakaran was admitted to the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) here on Tuesday. “Mr. Karunakaran’s condition is stable at the moment. He is drowsy and his white blood corpuscles count has gone up. It will take 24 hours for prognosis,” SCTIMST Director K. Mohandas said. Mr. Karanukaran was referred to the SCTIMST by the doctors of a private hospital in the city, Dr. Mohandas said. The Congress leader, who was admitted recently to a private hospital at Chaka following low sodium in blood, was discharged last week. The SCTIMST had restricted all visitors as a precautionary measure to prevent infection. A book was being maintained at the reception of the hospital for visitors to jot down messages for Mr. Karunakaran. PostponedThe inauguration of the celebrations to mark the ‘navathi’ of Mr.Karunakaran scheduled to be held at University Senate Hall here on August 21 has been postponed, M.M. Jacob, chairman, and Peethamabara Kurup, general convener of the celebrations committee, said.
