Three arrested, jeep seized

BHUBANESWAR: City police on Tuesday arrested three persons and seized a jeep, which they were allegedly using to pilfer diesel from stranded trawlers and trucks on national highways close to Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. It was early in the morning near Baramunda Bus Station where these accused persons were engaged in their routine stealing.

As soon as they spotted a police team, they fled. Police also chased their jeep, which met with an accident about five km from there.

One person sustained serious injuries and he was shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital. Police sources said the accused were Prasant Mohapatra, Sukant Sahoo and Anil Sahoo. The police seized 300 litres of diesel and weapons including a gun.
