Exhibition, felicitation mark World Photography Day

Visual treat: Visitors at a photography exhibition organised on the occasion of World Photography Day in Dharwad on Tuesday.

DHARWAD: The Dharwad Photo and Videographers’ Association observed World Photography Day here on Tuesday by organising a State-level photography contest and exhibition of photograph, in association with the Dharwad Media Club.

General Manager of Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank I.T. Sethuraman and Deputy General Manager of Life Insurance Corporation of India, Dharwad, Visheshwar Rao inaugurated the exhibition of select photographs that had come from across the State.

Addressing the gathering, they underscored the importance of photographs, especially in the print media, and the impact they could create on the administration.

Senior photographer Shashi Sali presided over the inaugural ceremony. Scores of people visited the one-day photography exhibition held at Dr. Mallikarjun Mansur Kalabhavan.

Prize-winning photographers were honoured by judge of the High Court Manjula Chellur in the evening. Rajendra Ritti from Haveri won the first prize, while the second and the third prizes were won by Praveen Kandakur of Koppal and Raghu of Doddaballapur respectively.

In Hubli, senior photographer Surendra Kshatri was felicitated by Mayor Radhabai Sapare at a function organised by Sri Gajanan Mahamandal as part of World Photography Day. President of the mandal D. Govind Rao was among those present.
