KWU’s ‘Raj Bhavan Chalo’ today
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka Workers’ Union (KWU) will organise a “Raj Bhavan Chalo” on Wednesday, urging the Centre and the State Government to check the increasing prices of essential commodities and reintroduce the Rent Control Act.
Union General Secretary E.K.N. Rajan told presspersons here on Tuesday that the poor, whose income was less than Rs. 4,000, had been affected by the increasing prices of essential commodities, including kerosene. Fair prices shops were of little help to poor people, he said.
Mr. Rajan said that the State Government had not revised minimum wages in accordance with inflation. “We appeal to the State Government to revise the wages and to fix five paise per point on dearness allowance,” he said.
